The 16th edition of Shanghai Fastener Expo (Fastener Expo Shanghai 2026) is set to take place from June 24 to 26 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), marking a new milestone for the global fastener industry. Organizers confirmed that 1,423 exhibitors have already registered, surpassing last year’s total and making it the world’s largest fastener exhibition by floor area for two consecutive years. The event will cover more than 70,000 square meters of exhibition space and is expected to attract over 25,000 professional visitors from 80+ countries and regions.

Against a backdrop of global supply chain restructuring and manufacturing upgrading, the 2026 show positions itself as a full-industry-chain platform spanning raw materials, cold heading equipment, molds, surface treatment, testing, packaging, and finished fasteners. According to the organizing committee, 37% of exhibitors specialize in high-grade fasteners meeting ISO 898-1 Class 12.9 or higher, corrosion-resistant coatings, and lightweight titanium alloy solutions—reflecting the industry’s shift from low-cost homogenization to high-value, high-precision production.

A major highlight of this year’s expo is the debut of the Technical White Paper on Fasteners for Collaborative Robot Joint Modules. Developed jointly by leading automation component suppliers and research institutions, the white paper addresses the growing demand for long-term reliable connection solutions in industrial and collaborative robotics. As global automation spending rises—with the robotics segment growing at 18% annually—fasteners designed for high torque resistance, vibration stability, and lightweight performance are becoming critical differentiators for OEMs.

Another key trend at the show is smart manufacturing and digital transformation. Over 40% of exhibitors will display AI-powered cold heading machines, IoT-based quality monitoring systems, and digital twin production lines. For example, Ningbo Yongjin Intelligent Equipment will launch the CY06XN075 high-speed thread rolling machine, which achieves 380–450 pieces per minute, a 100% capacity increase over conventional models, while reducing energy consumption by 15–20%. Such innovations directly respond to manufacturers’ needs for higher efficiency, lower costs, and greener production amid rising labor and energy expenses.

International buyer participation is also stronger than ever. The expo’s global procurement matchmaking program has pre-registered 3,200+ overseas buyers, primarily from ASEAN, the Middle East, Europe, and North America. Notably, European industrial fastener associations will lead a 120+ delegation focused on low-carbon fasteners and CBAM compliance. With the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) fully operational in 2026, European importers are prioritizing suppliers with verified carbon footprints and green manufacturing certifications.

China’s fastener industry has entered a new cycle of product upgrading and equipment renewal in 2026. After years of low-price competition, the sector is shifting toward high-strength, specialized, and environmentally friendly products. Industry output value is projected to exceed 190 billion RMB (USD 26.5 billion) in 2026, up 6% year-on-year, while high-end fasteners for aerospace, new energy, and wind power are expected to grow at 11%+. The localization rate of aerospace-grade fasteners is projected to reach 36.8% this year, driven by China’s aerospace industry expansion.

As the world’s manufacturing center, China accounts for 39.2% of global fastener production. Shanghai Fastener Expo 2026 serves as a critical bridge connecting Chinese manufacturers with global buyers, technology providers, and industry standards bodies. According to show organizers, 78% of 2025 exhibitors renewed their booths, and 62% of buyers reported increased purchasing volume at the expo, highlighting its role as a highly efficient, results-driven B2B platform.

In conclusion, Shanghai Fastener Expo 2026 is not just an exhibition but a barometer of the global fastener industry’s transformation. It showcases the latest technologies, products, and trends while fostering international cooperation and trade. As the industry continues to evolve toward high-end, digital, and green development, such platforms will become even more vital for driving innovation, connecting supply and demand, and building resilient global supply chains.
